Jazz and the Art of Connecting

Monday, April 24th, 2006

Green SaxA keen jazz fan (and amateur musician), I like the title of Garr Reynolds’s latest blog post: Jazz and the art of connecting. Auch! Garr has collected some good quotes from jazz magicians (and musicians) and drawn parallels to the art of presenting. Here’s one of my favourites:

“Anyone can make the simple complicated. Creativity is making the complicated simple.” (Charles Mingus)
This is my favorite quote of all. Many presenters — very smart people — either take something essentially simple and confuse an audience or simply fail to make their more complicated material meaningful to their audience. Simplicity ain’t easy. In fact it’s hard.

Friday, January 13th, 2006

The incredibly intelligent songwriter and absolutely wonderful singer Tina Dickow (her English artist name is Tina Dico) won the P3 Gold award this evening. P3 is the leading national Danish broadcast radio. She worked hard for it and deserves it——congratulations Tina.

Heather Nova: Redbird Online Streaming

Thursday, October 20th, 2005

I first discovered Heather Nova listening to the Eskobar hit single “Someone New”, and has since then tried to keep an eye on her–not being entirely successful, though. She is in Copenhagen this Friday, I just learned this Monday from a colleague!

Her new album, Redbird, can be heard via online streaming at V2 Italy. It seems like the album is a purchase candidate.

Tina Dickow in Copenhagen

Wednesday, July 20th, 2005

Tina Dickow (Tina Dico) will hold a concert in Copenhagen on September 7, 2005, according to her official website (www.tinadickow.dk (Danish) / www.tinadico.com (English)). She will play at Ideal Bar. Be sure to keep yourself updated via her website in order to not miss out on this musical experience.

Also, her new album is coming up within a few days. There is already a single out as well as a track exclusive to iTunes. Her previous work is also available on iTunes (as well as on CD, of course).
